Ottawa, block by block
Choosing where to rent is choosing how you'll live. Here's our honest take on the neighbourhoods we know best: what they cost, who they suit, and what makes each one tick.
Central · Family friendly
The Glebe
Leafy streets, heritage homes, and Bank Street's independent shops. The Glebe is Ottawa's quintessential walkable village, minutes from downtown and the Rideau Canal.
Best for professionals and families who want character housing, top schools, and Lansdowne on their doorstep. Rentals skew toward converted homes, duplexes, and boutique low rise buildings.
West end · Trendy
Westboro
Equal parts beach town and design district. Westboro pairs the Ottawa River and its sandy shoreline with patios, yoga studios, and some of the city's best brunch.
Best for active renters and young families who want newer builds, modern townhomes, and quick transit downtown. Expect a premium for that lifestyle, and strong lasting demand.
Downtown · Connected
Centretown
The heart of the city. Walk to Parliament, the canal, and the office; live above Elgin Street's restaurants and the city's best nightlife.
Best for downtown professionals, students, and anyone who values a commute without a car. The most rental supply in the city, from heritage walk up apartments to glass towers, and the widest price range.
Inner west · Creative
Hintonburg
Ottawa's arts quarter. Galleries, breweries, and chef led kitchens line Wellington West, with a close, creative community behind them.
Best for creatives and young professionals chasing character and a sense of place. A mix of restored century homes and sharp new infills, with momentum that keeps pushing values up.
West suburb · Space
Kanata
Ottawa's tech hub and family heartland. Newer subdivisions, big box convenience, and easy highway access, all wrapped around the Kanata North business park.
Best for families and tech workers who want square footage, garages, and great schools. Predominantly detached homes and townhomes, with the city's strongest demand for 3- and 4-bedroom rentals.
Central south · Established
Old Ottawa South
Tucked between the canal and the Rideau River, "OOS" is all mature trees, Bank Street charm, and a location steps from the Carleton University campus.
Best for families and graduate students who want quiet, walkable streets with quick access to downtown. Stately homes, well kept duplexes, and a community that rarely comes up for rent.
